What is the NAB Visa debit card?
The NAB Visa debit card gives you access to the funds you have in a NAB everyday savings or transaction account, anywhere Visa is accepted. This means you can spend your own money online or over the phone, even at Australian and overseas ATMs, without going into credit card debt.

How is a NAB Visa debit card different to a credit card?
While a NAB Visa debit card gives you access to all the same places Australia-wide and internationally, that you can access with an ordinary Visa card, a Visa debit card accesses your own funds to make those transactions. Therefore, instead of accumulating a credit card balance which you have to repay at the end of the month to avoid interest, a Visa debit card accesses your own money, which is held in a NAB bank account.

Can a Visa debit card be linked to an existing NAB account?
Yes, a Visa debit card can be linked to a NAB smart everyday account whenever you choose, and it is as simple as applying online, calling NAB on 13 22 65, or visiting a branch.

Is there an age limit for Visa debit card users?
Yes, you must be at least 16 years or older to hold a Visa debit card with NAB. Plus, if you are over 16 years, but under 18 years, you will also need your paren’t or guardian to be a joint account holder of the card.

What does the NAB Visa debit card look like?
A Visa debit card looks like an ordinary credit card, however, when you apply for a Visa debit card with NAB, you’ll have the choice of three colours, red, black or white.

What extra features are included with the NAB Gold Visa debit card?
Upgrading your Visa debit card to a Nab Gold Visa debit card includes:

  • Extended warranty insurance on your purchases. If you buy a new product using your Gold Visa debit card, and that product includes a manufacturer’s warranty valid in Australia, you may be eligible to have that warrant expended for another 12 months.
  • Overseas travel insurance. If you pay for all of your overseas airfares, including additional charges, fees and taxes, on your Gold Visa debit card, you will be covered by the NAB Gold Overseas Travel Insurance for free.
  • A $2,000 daily withdrawal limit. You can make withdrawals and purchases up to the value of $2,000 in any day with your Gold Visa debit card, this excludes purchases where you have used the ‚Äòcredit’ function, as these are limited to the amount of your own funds.

Which Visa debit purchases count towards the NAB Visa debit card’s daily limits?
A daily limit of $1,000 applies to the NAB Visa debit card and $2,000 to the NAB Gold Visa debit card. Limited transactions include all purchases and cash withdrawals, and does not include purchases where you have selected the ‚Äòcredit’ function to pay, as these purchases are limited only by your own available funds.

Are additional cardholders available on the NAB Visa debit card?
Yes, up to two cards can be attached to one account for free and each cardholder can choose the colour of their card. NAB Gold Banking customers can also attach up to two Gold Visa debit cards to their account at no cost.

Do I have to complete a credit application to apply for a NAB Visa debit card?
No, your NAB Visa debit card accesses only your own funds, so you are not required to complete a credit application.

How are purchases made with the NAB Visa debit card?

Can EFTPOS payments be made using the NAB Visa debit card?
Yes, simply choose the ‚Äòcheque’ or ‚Äòsavings’ button when you make a purchase to complete an EFTPOS transaction. This will also allow you to withdraw cash with your purchase.

How are purchases made with the NAB Visa debit card online or over the phone?
You will need to enter or quote the number on the front of the card, and the expiry date. In some cases you will also need to provide the three digit Card Validation Code as extra security, this number is printed on the back.

How does Verified by Visa protect online purchases?
When you register for Verified by Visa, you will be provided with an additional password. When you make purchases online with registered merchants and use your registered Visa card, you will be asked to enter this password for extra verification. Visa will then verify that the password entered is correct and the transaction will be processed. If someone tries to fraudulently use your credit card number, they will not have this password, and the transaction will be rejected by Visa.

What are the benefits of the Visa Zero Liability policy?
If you report your Visa debit card as lost or stolen, or if you suspect your Visa debit card details are being used fraudulently, you will be reimbursed for any unauthorised transactions, as outlined in NAB’s terms and conditions.

Is there purchase protection included with the NAB Visa debit card?
Yes, most new retail purchases you make on your Visa debit card in Australia or overseas, will be covered by Purchase Protection Insurance. This covers the items for 90 consecutive days from the date of purchase, against loss, theft or damage.

    Hi Lawrie

    Thanks for your comment!

When your card is issued, you will be given a pin number in the mail. You can then change your PIN number at any NAB branch. You may also be able to change your PIN number using a NAB ATM machine.

    Cheers
