NAB eBanking

Posted June 8th, 2010

The simplest option really can be the best one in some cases and when it comes to your transaction account this might be the case for you. There are transaction accounts which are also high interest savings accounts, ones which offer you rewards for eligible transactions and others which give you every feature under the sun. However, if you know the features you want and need in a transaction account, or if you are looking to simplify your banking and want to pare back your accounts to the basics and see what you really need, then perhaps the NAB eBanking account is the right transaction account for your needs.

The NAB eBanking account in a nutshell:

  • You have a set $4 monthly fee which includes all your transactions.
  • You can avoid paying the monthly fee if you deposit $2,500 into your account in a month.
  • You’ll have unlimited phone, internet, EFTPOS, Visa debit and NAB ATM access.
  • Cheque facilities and branch access are extra. So too is the use of overseas ATMs.
  • A Visa debit card, a high interest savings account and a personal overdraft can all be linked to the eBanking account through an online application.

Are the Features of the NAB eBanking Account Enough For You?

When you choose your everyday transaction account, you need to make sure you choose an account which has all of the features and transactions which you need and want included, because otherwise you will be paying extra fees to make your regular transactions, when you don’t need to be, there is an account out there which has just the features you need, and if you like to manage your account online and don’t need a lot of fancy extras the eBanking account could be just enough.

Features of the NAB eBanking account:

  • A set monthly fee which includes all your transactions, and you don’t even have to pay it. If you have your wages deposited into your eBanking account each week, you are likely to meet the minimum deposits required for NAB to waive the monthly fee. You only have to deposit $2,500 a month to operate your eBanking account fee free, and if your wages won’t cover it, open the account in joint names and pool your wages with your partner.
  • If you open and manage your account online you’ll save time and money. The unlimited transactions included with the eBanking account make it easy for you to pay your bills online or over the phone to save you time in a branch, and save you money on transaction fees. Even if you don’t already pay your bills online, consider trying it, to see just how easy it is. You can process the payment in just minutes and you don’t have to leave home, wait in lines or be charged transaction fees. Plus, most bills which have a BPAY option or similar will also allow you to pay with credit card, and if you choose a free linked NAB Visa debit card you can pay your bill over the phone with your debit card, as you would with a credit card.
  • You can still access your money when you go out. The NAB eBanking account may allow you to manage the account online, but you can still access your funds from NAB ATMs for free with unlimited withdrawals. NAB won’t charge you to use another bank’s ATM either, but that other bank might charge you, so be aware.
  • You are a certain type of banking customer, so stick to the included transactions. You would choose the eBanking account because you prefer, or want to move your banking towards, online transactions. Therefore, you are able to benefit from a reduced monthly fee and fee free online and phone transactions, so make sure these are the transactions you use in a month because you will be charged extra fees for cheque facilities, branch assisted transactions and overseas transactions.

Simple Saving With the NAB eBanking Transaction Account

The eBanking account is one of the transaction accounts which is able to be linked to NAB’s high interest savings accounts. You can choose from two online savings accounts, the NAB iSaver account or the NAB Reward Saver account.

Both high interest savings accounts can be opened online in the same application as your eBanking account and can easily be used to manage your finances to build an emergency fund, or help you save for a particular goal or purchase. Using a NAB high interest savings account and linked transaction account also means that you can make instant transfers between the two accounts. Therefore, your deposits to your savings account will arrive instantly, to be instantly earning interest, and if you need emergency access to your savings, transfers from your high interest account are instantly available in your transaction account too.

Swift and Secure Purchases With a Linked NAB Visa Debit Card

Two NAB Visa debit cards are included for free with the eBanking account for you and a joint account holder if you choose, and you can also choose from four different card colours. If you’ve never used a debit card before, don’t shy away from them because they appear to be a credit card, they’re not, they’re better.

Benefits of a linked NAB Visa debit card for your eBanking account:

  • A debit card looks and acts similarly to a credit card, but it’s not getting you into debt. To use a debit card you can link one to your eBanking account when you open it online, or by completing an online application form later. Your NAB Visa debit card is now linked directly to your everyday savings and when you use the card, you choose the ‚ÄòCredit’ option on the EFTPOS machine, but the funds are directly debited from your savings account. Therefore you are spending your own money, but with the ease and security of a credit card.
  • You can use your NAB Visa debit card to make purchases online or over the phone. While still using your own funds, you can buy at online stores or on eBay and not have to worry about processing money orders or giving away your PINs. Instead you have a secure card which is accepted at most online stores.
  • You can choose your card colour. You can choose a black, red, pink or white Visa debit card to be linked to your eBanking account.
Anything you buy with your NAB Visa debit card will be covered under the card’s Purchase Protection Insurance for 90 days if it is lost, stolen or damaged.
  • You can access your account at selected Australia Post outlets and make deposits or withdrawals, and check your balance. Your Visa debit card will also allow you to withdraw up to $1,000 per day.

If the simplicity and accessibility of the NAB eBanking account sounds like it would suit your saving and spending habits, follow the secure Savings Account Finder™ links to the NAB website to sign up online today in less than ten minutes. If you’re already a NAB customer you can upgrade your account to an eBanking account, or to include a Visa debit card online too, in just a few minutes.
