IMB Term Deposit
Investing your savings in a fixed term deposit account without any access can be a distressing parting experience. That is why there are a number of term deposit accounts which offer regular interest income payments, and the IMB term deposit account is one designed specifically for those investors who expect to experience separation anxiety.
Features of the IMB Term Deposit
IMB term deposits can offer high returns and inclusive options to investors even if you don’t require an income from your investment and the choices available from IMB may be just what you have been looking for:
A minimum invest of only $1,000 is required. A $1,000 minimum deposit is a very accessible amount to enable you to break into the investment market with no risk during the term of your secure deposit, and no risk of stretching your budget to breaking point by investing more than you can afford. Being able to invest as little as $1,000 also allows you to test the term deposit waters and decide if this is an investment option you would be interested in pursuing, and is a way to give your savings a boost and keep them from being spent.
Negotiated interest rates for investments over $100,000. If you are at the other end of the investment spectrum already and have over $100,000 to invest them IMB can calculate special interest rates for you because they want your business and you want your deposit to grow exponentially.
No account fees and regular statements to prove it. With your transaction accounts you may dread receiving a statement because they tend to tally up all of your account fees and transaction costs. However, you can receive a regular statement about the progress of your IMB term deposit account, and you won’t see any account keeping fees because there aren’t any.
Internet banking access. If you don’t want to wait for your statements to arrive, you can check on your IMB term deposit at any time using internet banking.
Regular interest options. On IMB term deposits between six months and five years, interest can be paid six monthly and on maturity. On investments between one month and 12 months your interest will be paid at maturity and the payments of your interest can be paid into a nominated transaction account, or be posted to you as a cheque.
Regular money plans. You can choose an IMB term deposit account which offers fortnightly and monthly interest payments. For this type of IMB term deposit there is a $2,000 minimum investment required to receive fortnightly payments, and $5,000 to receive monthly interest. You can choose to receive fortnightly interest on investments for 12 months only, and monthly interest can be paid on terms between three months and five years.
Time to consider your choices at maturity. You will receive notification by mail from IMB seven days before your term deposit reaches maturity. At this time you can choose to invest in a new term deposit or to withdraw your funds. If you do nothing you can have your investment automatically rolled over into the same term again, at the current interest rate.
You can access your funds before maturity but will be penalised with lower interest. IMB does allow you to access your investment before your maturity date, but your interest rate could be reduced by up to 6.10%, for up to 12 months.
Compare the IMB term deposit rates:

A three month term deposit can earn 5.10% interest.
A one year term deposit can earn 6.10% interest.
