SHOPPING: Learn Great Ways To Save While Shopping

We all have to go shopping. Whether it is for food, petrol or clothing, there are things that we have to spend money on. But we can still practice saving money whilst we’re out doing out weekly shopping. We just have to remember those money savings tips that will help us lower our overall spending.

There are a lot of ways for us to start saving money – we just have to find out what they are and then put them into practice in our daily lives. One of the main things that we spend money on is shopping.

Saving Money With Food Shopping

Something that we usually end up spending a lot of money on is going to the supermarket, which can be a very expensive chore – especially if you have a large family to feed.

But there is a way do get all of the shopping done and get some money savings at the same time. Buying in larger quantities will allow you to take advantage of lower pricing – like economy or family packs. But if you live alone, you may not be able to consume perishable goods that you buy in large packs.

Another great way of saving money on buying food is to get it from the source. Head down to a market or butcher for buying fresh produce. Buying this way reduces a lot of costs for you, and since you’re buying it  from the producer, you will save a lot of money and fresher food is always best!

Saving Money On Petrol

Petrol is another expense that most of us cannot avoid. But we can still buy it in a way that maximises our money savings.

Due to supply and demand, petrol prices vary throughout the week. Try to buy your petrol on Tuesday or Wednesday. Less people fill up their cars mid-week, therefore prices are lower. As the weekend approaches, prices get higher. Usually, petrol stations will raise their prices on Thursday or Friday and prices will remain high during the weekend.

Another way to save money on petrol is by shopping around. Some towns will have cheaper petrol than others. Perhaps the petrol station nearer your home is cheaper than the one close to where you work. Take the time to notice these things, as they will help you start saving money! If you are able to save $0.05 per litre on your 40 litre tank, that’s $2.00 saved every time you fill up. But if you fill up just once a week, that’s savings of $100 in a year.

Saving Money on Clothes Shopping

Clothes shopping is a silent money killer – especially for women! You can’t just buy a pair of jeans – because you need a top to go with the jeans, and shoes that go with the top, and a bag that goes with the shoes. Before you know it, you have ended up spending a lot more than you wanted to.

In order to cut down on expenses like this, set aside a set amount of money every month just for clothing, or electronics, etc. By budgeting, you will be able to manage your money in a more effective way. When you can successfully manage your spending you will be able to let your money savings grow.

Tip 1. Shop without distraction

Nothing can be more annoying than the extra baggage of kids, friends or even husbands/ wives when searching for great deals. They often require your attention which challenges your focus. Shopping with a friend that may have a larger budget also tempts you into spending more than you really would like to.

Tip 2. Shopping In Sales

There are positives and negatives in sales. With special offers and great discounts on certain items, you will be tempted to purchase more than you bargained for. The best buyer in a sale is the one that knows exactly what the price of the item is. They know what they want and would have researched the market beforehand.

Tip 3. Care For Your Clothes

Caring for the clothes that are in your wardrobe is probably one of the best ways to save. This way they will last longer. A general repair of rips, missing buttons or the odd hem being taken up, will keep your garments looking good, even years down the track.

Tip 4. Vouchers and Coupons

Keep your eyes out for special vouchers and coupons, either online or in the local paper. They cost you nothing, yet give you a better price for some items. The two-for-one deal is very popular, basically you get the products at half price. It might be good to team up with someone else who wants the item on offer so you both keep saving money.

Tip 5. Online Shopping

Buying clothes online can be very rewarding. Searching for the best deals in comfort of your home is great. You can often save heaps by buying on some of the available sites which allow you to compare prices.

Tip 6. Buy In Bulk

You often find deals that give you the best price when you buy 5 or more items. This is great if the family all want the same shirts or shorts, but if that isn’t the case maybe they can be given as present to friends at Christmas or Birthdays. Outlets often offer great deals like this.

Tip 7. Swap To Shop

This is a great money saving tip for you and your friends. We all have clothes in the wardrobe that haven’t been worn for some reason or other. This swap or shop at your friends wardrobe is a great way to score cheap or even free clothes. The feeling of getting something for nothing or by swapping is fantastic.

Tip 8. Seasonal Shopping

Try to shop for your winter or summer clothes just at the end of the season. A lot of retailers will be wanting to restock the shelves with the new season articles and often give away bargain baskets to move out stock.

Tip 9. Discount Stores

Discount stores have the best deals on many items. The no-name brands can be found at rock bottom prices. Underwear and socks are ideal examples to purchase from the discount store. Keep a look out for some other bargains too as these stores have huge buying power for bulk items.

Tip 10. The Power Of Cash

Cash is king. Some stores like the payment with cash and offer you a better price for it. The temptation to spend on credit gets very easily out of hand. The best way is to leave the plastic at home. Stick to the cash you have and avoid overspending to save money.

The Benefits Of Being Fashionably Late

Being late can mean a lot of things. The biggest benefit is that you always walk into a full room and you know what’s going on. The early guy always walks into an empty room, bored out of their mind wondering where everyone is. Being a little late to the party is a great way to feel out the crowd and decide if you want to hang around, or hit the road. The same can be said for saving money. By being a little late to the party, you get to feel your way around and figure out what’s best for you.

By being a bit late when doing your shopping, you can save a great deal of money and not end up spending an arm and a leg. Take a look at this to give you an idea of what you’re missing out on by being late (or early) to the party.

The Early Bird Gets…

The worm. And the high prices.

Sure, you get a few benefits: You can boast about how you’ve got the newest high tech gadget, you get to look cool and you’ve got all the newest things while everyone is out with their old stuff.

It also means that you’re going to pay an unbelievably high price for the newest things, and that you have no idea what might actually go wrong with the device. This could end up meaning you’re buying something that will be obsolete tomorrow, or is still full of bugs.

Consider the iPhone. Over in America, the original iPhone came with a price point at around $600 – and people were lined up around the block to get it. There are now commercials poking fun at the iPhone, and this is 4 generations later. The iPhone is plagued with dropped call problems and other issues because the cellular network couldn’t handle the massive amounts of call and data traffic created by the phone. A few years later, Google released the Android OS and various comparable and cheaper devices are being released – some of which are considered to surpass the iPhone in functionality.

Why? Because Google (and hopefully Apple) learned from the iPhone mistakes. Also, because Android is constantly being developed by every programmer in the world than owns a device using the open source software. By hanging back and waiting, the late guy to the party was given more choices and better prices, leading to huge money savings.

Over time, prices go down for the newest hot gadgets. It’s the way of the market.  It’s in your best interest to take a step back and wait for prices to drop and for all the bugs to get worked out of the newest gadgets. You’ll save money, and you’ll get a much more usable product. It’s been proven over and over in the market. Prices will fall, factory refurbished models will be available, and new competition will drive the price down while driving the quality up. Just look at the iPhone/Android rivalry if you need any proof of this idea in action.
