Am I Wealthy? Calculator

Posted May 12th, 2010 and last modified December 12th, 2011

How do you know if you are wealthy?

Despite what many people say, we at Savings Account Finderâ„¢ don’t believe wealth is defined by the number of material possessions you may have. Although a person may have a large amount of material wealth, how many investments, income-producing assets, private businesses etc. does this person own? Age is also a major factor when determining your wealth. While many people believe that if you are a millionaire that you are then wealthy, however, what if you are 21 years old but already own a house? While you may not yet be a millionaire, you certainly will have done well for a 21 year old. Conversely, if you have been earning in excess of $200,000 for 20+ years, it would be expected that your net worth extend into the millions…

Essentially, we are calculating whether you are wealthy, or are simply maintaining a facade of wealth.

The Am I Wealthy? Calculator may make a simple calculation, but it is incredibly important. Imagine for instance, you were out of work suddenly. How long could you support your family for with your current net worth? The calculator will allow you to work out how comfortable you and your family would be, if anything untoward were to happen.

Are you a PAW or a UAW?

A PAW is a prodigious accumulator of wealth, whereas a UAW is an under accumulator of wealth. Typically a PAW have a minimum of four times the amount of wealth accumulated by a UAW. UAW’s tend to live beyond their means and are high consumers. PAW’s, on the other hand, are not high consumers and can store their wealth for when and what is needed most.

We have worked out a simple calculation that works out whether or not you are wealthy, by telling you what your net worth should be at any certain age. By multiplying your age by your pre-tax household income from all sources (excluding inheritance), then dividing by ten, you can work out what your net worth should be. Try it out!

This is why we have created the Am I Wealthy? Calculator. Now we are letting you put this calculator on your website, free of charge!
